JetBlue with a baby: rules for strollers, car seats & infant fares
Key facts
Short answer: JetBlue lets babies from 3 days to under 2 fly free on your lap domestically, checks one stroller and one car seat free per child at the gate or counter, allows a free diaper bag in the cabin on every fare (including Blue Basic), and guarantees adjacent family seating for children 13 and under.
Flying JetBlue with a baby or toddler? Whether you are heading to Orlando, the Caribbean, New York, Boston or across the Atlantic to London, Paris or Dublin, JetBlue has one of the cleanest baby-gear policies in the sky: 1 diaper bag in the cabin plus 1 stroller and 1 car seat checked free, even on Blue Basic fares. Checked 27 October 2026.
Quick answers
- Free baby trio (even on Blue Basic): when travelling with a lap infant, JetBlue lets you bring 1 diaper bag in the cabin + 1 stroller + 1 car seat completely free of charge — none of them count toward your personal item or carry-on limit!
- Lap infant fare: free on US domestic flights (plus Puerto Rico and USVI) for babies aged 3 days to under 2 years. Transatlantic and international flights pay taxes and fees (plus 10% adult fare on transatlantic routes).
- Minimum age to fly: babies must be at least 3 days old; infants between 3 and 14 days old require a doctor's letter.
- Cabin carry-on stroller limit: 22 × 14 × 9 in (55.8 × 35.5 × 22.8 cm). Now that Blue Basic includes a free carry-on bag again, every JetBlue fare includes overhead bin space.
- Family Seating guarantee: children aged 13 and under are guaranteed to sit next to at least one accompanying adult on the same booking at no extra cost.
- Pre-boarding for families: families travelling with children aged 2 and under pre-board before Group A.
Why JetBlue is a standout for baby travel
JetBlue hits the sweet spot for East Coast, Florida, Caribbean and transatlantic family trips: extra Economy legroom (32 inches of seat pitch in Core), free high-speed Fly-Fi Wi-Fi and seatback screens at every seat, and a crystal-clear infant baggage rule. Unlike airlines where a diaper bag eats up your personal item allowance, JetBlue explicitly gives lap infants their own free diaper bag in the cabin, plus a free breast pump, plus a free checked stroller and car seat.
In addition, JetBlue restored a free full-size overhead carry-on bag (22 × 14 × 9 in) to all fares including Blue Basic, so parents no longer have to worry about gate-bag penalties.
Stroller, car seat & diaper bag rules
- Free stroller + car seat check: you can check one stroller and one car seat per child for free at the ticket counter or roll them to the boarding gate and gate-check them at the jet bridge.
- Cabin strollers (22 × 14 × 9 in / 55.8 × 35.5 × 22.8 cm): ultra-compact strollers that fold within 22 × 14 × 9 inches fit in the overhead bin as your carry-on bag. Use our Cabin Size Stroller Checker to compare models.
- Free diaper bag + breast pump: one diaper bag per lap infant is allowed in the cabin free of charge, alongside a breast pump and soft cooler of breast milk or formula.
FAA car seats, Mint suites & bassinets
- FAA car seats on board: if you purchase a seat for your child, you can install an FAA-approved car seat (or CARES harness). JetBlue Core seats are a generous 17.8 to 18.4 inches wide, which fits almost all travel car seats comfortably. Install the car seat in a window seat (or middle seat if the window seat is occupied by another family member), never in an exit row. Note: car seats cannot be used in JetBlue Mint suites on Airbus A321neo aircraft with angled suites or inflatable airbag seatbelts.
- Does JetBlue have bassinets? No. Because JetBlue operates single-aisle Airbus A320, A321, A321LR (including transatlantic flights to London, Paris, Dublin and Edinburgh) and A220 aircraft, JetBlue does not offer bulkhead wall-mounted bassinets.
