Key facts (last checked: 30 Oct 2026)

Units follow the UK / US switch in the header (cm and kg, or inches and lb).

Infant fare and lap-infant age

As a general rule 10% of the regular fare until the second birthday, with no seat (lap with a special belt); additional charges may apply. A child who turns 2 during the trip needs a seat for the whole journey.

Infant baggage allowance

Infants under 2 have no hand baggage of their own; their items go in the adult's allowance.

Pushchair and stroller rules

Free: a foldable stroller, foldable baby carriage, baby carrier or pocket buggy. Prams are checked in at the counter. At most airports you can keep a foldable pushchair or baby carrier until shortly before boarding and get it back on arrival (at the aircraft or on the carousel, depending on destination). Electric pushchairs aren't allowed.

Cabin: A fully collapsible pocket buggy no larger than 55 × 40 × 23 cm can come into the cabin as part of your carry-on allowance; if it takes you over, it goes in the hold.

Car seats and child restraints (CRS)

Needs a separate seat for infants. Child under 12 and under 27 kg; seat approved for aircraft. SWISS gives the seat size as 43 × 43 cm on its on-board page and the base limit as 40 × 40 cm in its FAQ, so check with SWISS for a seat between the two.

Bassinet or cot

Long-haul in all classes and Business on European flights: for babies up to 8 months, max 11 kg and 67 cm. Reserve cot and seat free through the Service Centre.

Baby food and milk

Milk and liquid baby food are allowed in hand baggage above the normal liquid limits, in quantities for the flight. Baby food (fruit and vegetable purées) on intercontinental flights, ordered up to 48 hours before.
