Travelodge with a baby
Travelodge has more than 600 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain, and a lot of families use one for a cheap night on the way to a ferry, an airport or a holiday park. It works well with a baby, but the cot isn't automatic: you arrange it with the hotel yourself, and not every hotel has one.
Everything below comes from Travelodge's own FAQs, booking terms, room, restaurant and accessibility pages, and the Lullaby Trust, checked October 2026. Facilities vary by hotel, so check your hotel's page too.
Key facts
Short answer: You don't need to add a baby under 2 to a Travelodge booking. Cots are available at some hotels only, subject to availability and space in the room, so contact the hotel directly to arrange one. Family rooms take up to five people, for example two adults, two children under 16 and a baby in a cot. At hotels with a Bar Café, up to two under-15s get breakfast for £1 each with every full-paying adult. Travelodge hotels don't have interconnecting rooms, and some hotels have no lift, so check before you book if you're bringing a pushchair.

Room types and who can stay
Travelodge's booking terms set a maximum occupancy for each room type, and say you need to speak to the hotel directly to confirm cots and room size (Travelodge: booking terms). An adult is anyone aged 18 or over.
| Room | Beds | With a baby |
|---|---|---|
| Double (standard) | One king size bed | Two adults and one baby in a cot, if a cot is available and there's space; or one adult and one child under 16 |
| Twin | Two single beds | Two adults and one baby in a cot, if a cot is available and there's space |
| Small family room | King size bed and one or two pull-out beds | Two adults, one child under 16 and one baby in a cot; or one adult, two children under 16 and a baby in a cot (space permitting) |
| Family room | King size bed and one or two pull-out beds | Up to five people: two adults, two children under 16 and a baby in a cot; three adults and one child or a baby in a cot; or two adults and two babies in cots (space permitting) |
| Accessible room | Zip and link bed (double or two singles) | Two adults and one baby in a cot, depending on availability and space |
| Single | One single bed | One adult only, so no baby |
A few other things from the terms and FAQs:
- You must be 18 or over to book, and the hotel may ask for photo ID as proof of age.
- A supplement may apply if a second or third adult needs a pull-out bed; it's included in the rate you're quoted.
- If you need an extra bed for a family member or carer, Travelodge asks you to use the Contact Us form on its website.
- Travelodge also sells SuperRooms, including a Family SuperRoom, at some hotels, with blackout curtains, premium WiFi and a choice of pillows. Standard Room Plus is in the quieter areas of the hotel (Travelodge: our rooms).
Getting a cot
Travelodge asks you to arrange a cot with the hotel itself rather than when you book:
- Book the room that fits your family, using the table above.
- Contact the hotel directly to ask for a cot. Each hotel's phone number is at the top of its page on the Travelodge website, and calls cost 13p a minute plus your phone company's access charge. If you can't call, Travelodge suggests its Contact Us form (Travelodge: FAQs).
- Ask whether the room has space for the cot, because the terms make it depend on room size as well as availability.
- At Stay Smart hotels, which use an app and kiosks instead of a traditional check-in, ask through the telephone chat icon in the app or call 03719 848 484 (option 3) (Travelodge: Stay Smart).
Travelodge doesn't publish what its cots look like, what bedding comes with them or any weight limit, so ask the hotel when you call. If it can't promise a cot, or you'd rather your baby slept somewhere familiar, bring your own travel cot (see best travel cots) and check there's floor space for it.
Checking the cot when you arrive
The Lullaby Trust recommends that a cot mattress provided by your accommodation is still firm and flat, with no rips, tears or sagging, has a waterproof cover, and has been cleaned after each use with fresh bedding. It suggests bringing antibacterial wipes and possibly a waterproof cover if you're not sure, and contacting the accommodation to check its policy on cot mattresses (Lullaby Trust: safer sleep on holiday).
It also says the safest place for a baby to sleep is their own separate sleep space, on a firm, flat mattress clear of toys and pillows, and recommends a room temperature of 16 to 20°C. Travelodge shows a snowflake icon on a hotel's page if it has air conditioning, and in summer its rooms come with a top sheet rather than a duvet on the bed (the duvet is still in the room). In winter, extra blankets are available from reception (Travelodge: FAQs). Keep adult duvets and pillows out of your baby's cot.
Breakfast and food
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Kids' breakfast | For every full-paying adult, up to two children under 15 get breakfast for £1 each. It doesn't include Breakfast To Go (Travelodge: our restaurants) |
| Where | Only at hotels with a Bar Café, where breakfast is unlimited, with a cooked selection and a lighter one (Travelodge: breakfast). Travelodge's accessibility guide says over 210 of its hotels have one |
| Breakfast To Go | £6.95 per person: cornflakes with milk, a pain au chocolat, a flapjack bar and an iced coffee (flavoured milk on request). Add it to your booking or buy it at reception |
| Kids' menu | At Bar Café hotels, children can choose a starter, main and dessert plus a drink from £7.50. Prices vary by hotel |
| Booking breakfast | Travelodge suggests adding breakfast to your online basket before you finish booking, to beat the queues in the Bar Café |
Not every Travelodge has a Bar Café, so check your hotel's page. If yours doesn't, bring breakfast for your baby, and use the room's tea and coffee-making facilities, which every room has, for hot water. Travelodge rooms don't have phones, so save the reception number from your key card.
Booking, check-in and cancelling
- Check-in is from 3pm, and reception is open 24 hours. If you'll arrive after midnight, tell the hotel beforehand. Paid early check-in from 12 noon and late checkout until 2pm are offered at selected hotels, subject to availability (Travelodge: FAQs).
- Lifts: Travelodge says some of its hotels don't have lifts. Check the "Useful Information" section on the hotel's page or call before you book if you'll have a pushchair and bags.
- Bath or shower: standard en suites have either a bath or a shower tray, depending on the hotel and room type. If you want a bath for your baby, check the room description using the "Find out more" link when you book, or ask the hotel (Travelodge: accessibility guide).
- Luggage storage is only at some larger hotels, and it's listed on the hotel page if offered.
- Rooms near each other: there are no interconnecting rooms. Ask the hotel to put your rooms close together, or use the paid "Choose your room" option at selected hotels to reserve adjacent rooms (Travelodge: booking terms).
- Which rate? With a baby, plans change. The Flexible Rate lets you change or cancel for a full refund up to midday on your arrival day. Semi-Flex is non-refundable, but you can change the dates before noon on the arrival day for £12.50 online. The Lowest Rate can't be changed or refunded (Travelodge: FAQs).
Checklist before you go

- Call the hotel about a cot as soon as you've booked, and ask whether the room has space for it.

- Check for a lift and a Bar Café on the hotel's page.
- Add breakfast when you book if you want the £1 kids' breakfast.
- Bring photo ID for the adults.
- Pick a rate you can cancel if your baby is unwell close to the date.
